Happy 4 month "birthday" to our beautiful baby girl!
It's hard to believe 4 months have gone this quickly. In a little over 3 months we will be saying goodbye to summer and to my maternity leave and hello to another school year and daycare.
A lot has changed. She is starting to be more comfortable and friendly towards friends and extended family... even sharing her smiles with people she has never seen! Everything (EVERYTHING) goes into her mouth. (In case you couldn't tell from the picture, she's mid-lift of her dress to get a mouth full of it!) While I do not think she is teething yet, she is definitely exploring everything.
Gwen seems like a very social baby. She is constantly looking around, taking things in and noticing new people/sounds in her environment. She has different types of smiles and does a lot more "talking" to us now. She really enjoys being with people over any type of toy and is often content just sitting and "talking" with us while we are out or home.
We do not know her weight for sure (she sees the doctor next week) but she's about 13 pounds and beginning to outgrow some of her 3 month-sized clothing. Many of her pants are getting too short, which is the only real indication we notice in her change in length (can I call it height?!).
Sleep is still scarce. As I write this, I cannot believe I have not slept longer than about 5 hours in 4 months! Or that I am able to function with that little sleep. Gwendolyn has been up every 3 hours during the night for the past few weeks. Napping is a crap shoot. Some days she does great, other days she has no naps. But, no matter how long or little she she sleeps, her temperament is pretty consistent: happy and content! I cannot complain.
This time with Gwendolyn has been so amazing, I would not change it for the world. Each day is filled with fun and smiles! A third of her first year has already passed. While I cannot wait to see what the future brings, I am extremely grateful for the memories we have made thus far.
