In the Swing of Things

Our sweet baby girl gave her mommy an early Mother's Day gift! Gwendolyn went back to her amazing, lengthy nighttime sleep routine this week! I'm happy to report she slept 5-6 hours straight each night. (WHY is this considered "sleeping through the night"?!).

While things are not perfect, 5 straight hours of sleep feels incredible! Now that she is sleeping longer at night, daytime naps have decreased to a few 20-30 minute naps throughout the day. I'll take it... for now.

After a few nights of Gwendolyn crying for two hours before finally going to sleep, we took the hint (I know, we're a little slow) and held off on putting her down for the night until much later. Chris is really good about getting her ready for and all tucked in to bed. He really enjoys his nightly routine and bottle time with Gwen!

I am envious of people who have babies that sleep the entire night and then nap 2-3 hours twice a day. Right now I'm barely able to wash the dishes, do a quick workout or get a shower in before our little cherub's naps are over! As someone who thrives on routine, this is not easy. But, I know it'll pass quickly and I would not change these days with Gwendolyn for anything.

Since Gwendolyn is awake much more lately, we have stayed pretty busy! (I'm lucky she enjoys running errands with me) She is a pretty active baby who likes to "sit up" and see all the action! She seemed ready to introduced her to the swing this week!

How cute are these pictures?! It wasn't easy to get a steady shot since she was jumping all over the place but she has been having a blast! True to form, she also had to bend over and put her mouth on the tray to get a taste as well!

It's starting to feel like we are getting into the swing of this parenting thing. It's certainly a challenge but the most wonderful one I've ever attempted. Looking forward to celebrating my first Mother's Day on Sunday!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!
