Happy Mother's Day!

This weekend last year we got our first clue that I might, might, miiiiight be pregnant. While celebrating Mother's Day with my in-laws, I got nauseous and dizzy out of nowhere. It went away quickly, but hoping for good news we took a pregnancy test the next day. It came back negative.

Fast forward to the week after Memorial Day, when I should have gotten my period and it never came. Chris, being the amazing husband that he is practically raced me to the drug store to purchase one three pregnancy tests and they all came back positive! (I really took two, had positive results and being skeptical, waited to take the third the next day before agreeing to call my doctor)

We were both in shock. How could we be so lucky!? We got pregnant after "officially trying" for just a few weeks. A week later my doctor's appointment confirmed what we already knew and the rest is history! I swear it happened so quickly, Chris and I had a hard time really believing we were pregnant before seeing the first ultrasound!

Now here we are, a year later. My pregnancy has come and gone and we have a beautiful, amazing baby girl. What a blessing being a mother is. Celebrating this holiday for the first time as someone's mother is an incredible feeling. I received so many texts, phone calls, cards and gifts today and appreciate everyone's kind thoughts.

Gwendolyn and Chris spoiled me today as did the weather. What started off as a gloomy and rainy day really opened up to a beautiful afternoon. We spent the morning as a family relaxing and opening gifts! I was given a book I've been wanting to read and "mommy and me yoga" classes I wanted to take! I can't wait to do yoga with Gwendolyn.
My mother and brothers came over for brunch and we enjoyed strawberry pancakes and more gift opening. After they left and the weather improved, we headed to the walking trail in our town with both my babies: Gwendolyn and Winston. We crammed them both in the back of our car and headed out for a lovely walk together.
Later we watched a movie, had quesadillas for dinner and gave Gwen a bath before singing her to sleep. (Her current favorite lullaby is "American Baby" by Dave Matthews Band) Chris kept the gifts coming by doing all of the dishes and getting me ice cream for dessert! What a lucky girl mom I am.
My first Mother's Day is in the books. This past year has been an incredible journey and it's just the beginning! Hope your Mother's Day was all you hoped it would be.
